2000s Album Cover Quiz
Ten album covers from 2000 – 2009, each starting out of focus and sharpening as the clock runs. Name one early and it is worth double. Drawn from 43 records chosen for their sleeves — then put a cover on vinyl or build a wall of your own.
Why blurred covers
A sleeve you know is recognisable long before it is legible — the colour field, the crop, the shape of the type. The blur is there to find the moment you recognise it, which is earlier than most people expect. That is also why the score rewards answering while the cover is still soft: waiting for a sharp image turns the quiz into a slideshow.
Frequently asked questions
- How does the scoring work?
- Every cover starts heavily blurred and sharpens over 9 seconds. A correct answer is worth 200 points at first sight and 100 once the cover is fully readable, so naming it early is worth double.
- Where do the album covers come from?
- The iTunes Search API, which serves Apple's own artwork. The 43 records are a curated list of 2000s albums picked for recognisable sleeve art rather than chart position.
- Do I need an account?
- No. The quiz runs entirely in your browser, nothing is uploaded, and no sign-up is required to play or to download your score card.
- Can I share my score?
- Yes. The result screen renders a PNG score card you can download and post anywhere.
